October 1942: German pilots photographed British positions 14 times daily before El Alamein. They reported 1,200 supply lorries in the forward areas and tanks safely in reserve. They were catastrophically wrong. Those "lorries" were 600 tanks covered in canvas. Those "tanks" in the rear were wooden dummies. British engineers had turned the entire desert into a stage, and the Germans never realised they were watching theatre instead of warfare. This is the story of how canvas, wood, and brilliant deception achieved what firepower alone never could—complete tactical surprise on the most photographed battlefield of WWII. #MilitaryHistory #ElAlamein #NorthAfrica #BritishArmy #Camouflage #MilitaryDeception
