Commitment from one organization is not enough, through transformational partnership (Public-Private-People) in the Lake Naivasha Basin in the Integrated Water Action Plan (IWRAP), our work supported by the Dutch Embassy in Kenya, provides inspirational showcase of sustainable development. With local communities at the centre, IWRAP was developed as a uniquely modelled public-private-people (PPP) partnership aimed at developing local capacity and leveraging recent Information Technological advances and management interventions to promote best water resources management and sustainable development within the Naivasha basin. Funding for this four-year (2013-2016) programme was provided by The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) in Nairobi. Key partners included World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Kenya as the lead agency, together with Imarisha Naivasha, Water Resources Authority (WRA) and Kenya Flower Council (KFC), as well as ITC (a faculty of the University of Twente), and two Regional Water Authorities, Waterschap Noorderzijlvest (NZV) and Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden (HDSR), from the Netherlands.
