Ramon Crater. The whole area of Ramon Crater, though it is desert today, used to be once underwater. The Carpentry : Soon after descending from the town of Mitzpe Ramon and into the Ramon Crater is a geological phenomenon found only in Israel. The place is called "Carpentry" because of the thousands of blackish looking rocks that have four or six sides and look like wood. These brick looking piles of rock on the hill were created by the outer layer of sand being super-heated by Lava from below, after melting and cooling these shapes were created.
