Stay tuned after the performance to hear the announcement of who the 10 bands will be that proceed to the Finals. (It was very intense!.) This contest only takes places every 2 years, based on the Conference and Area of each school. Schools are only eligible to proceed to the Area level of the University Interscholastic League Marching Contest if they receive a perfect score of "straight 1's" in the Region contest. The Allen High School Band performs "Cyclone" in this show for the UIL Area C, Conference 6A Marching Contest. Bands are judged strictly on Music and Marching. The Allen Eagle Escadrille (aka: The Biggest Band in the Land) has over 760 students that perform weekly at Allen High School football games. Allen High School is a 6A school located in Allen, Texas (a suburb north of Dallas.) Allen is "one school town" [one high school] as determined when the city of Allen was established. It has resulted in a unity within the town in support of the school, students, families, and community. The Allen Eagle Nation prides itself in One town One school One team One band One fam Student enrollment in Allen ISD has more than doubled since 1989, bringing the current (2016) number of students to more than 20,801 in grades K-12. Students attend one of 17 elementary schools, three middle schools, one freshman center (enrollment 1,605) and one high school (enrollment 4,855.) The band is directed by Blane Hinton, Joel May, Cory Davis, Tony Daniels, Megan Manuel, Clay Singletary, Eric Gilley, Jeremy Rohr, Mallarie Bowen and Matt McGann. In the UIL, bands are judged on a scale of 1-5 (1 being the highest) in Marching and Music categories that include tone, musicianship (ensemble performance,) Marching Execution, and Drill/Integration of marching components.
