A December 2025 out west adventure in New Mexico. Primary Locations: 1) Las Vegas (NM) - We took Hwy 104 after lunch in Tucumcari to get here. It was a quiet road with lots of cool stops for photos and drone shots. The town itself was very quiet and nice. We stayed in the Historic Plaza Hotel, which provided easy access to the downtown strip. 2) Taos - We took Hwy 518 on our way in which was very scenic during the daytime drive. Taos is a historic town that rests at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Taos Ski Valley lies 30 min away in the mountains and the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is a must-see stop in town. 3) Santa Fe - The capital city of New Mexico, and the oldest in the United States. We spent time exploring the plaza, attractions like Meow Wolf (highly recommend), and eating good food. Views of the southernmost portion of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains surround the city. 4) White Sands - The world’s largest gypsum dune field. You'll see miles of soft white sand dunes and feel like you're on another planet. Sledding is permitted and easily rented from the gift shop if you don't have your own. Sunsets are incredible and perfect for photos/videos. A word of advice, if you plan on watching the sun go down within the park, get there early as many people will drive in during this time. 5) Cloudcroft - One of the most unique finds on this trip was this tiny town in the Lincoln National Forest. Roughly 15 min from Alamogordo, Cloudcroft is an old mountain retreat with a cool western feel. We stayed at the Crofting bed-and-breakfast, and the staff and people we met were extremely nice. Lots of hiking trails with views of the desert and White Sands can be seen from the mountains. We would highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area. #taos #ski #skiing #skitaos #tapsskivalley #newmexico #cloudcroft #route66 #vlog #roadtrip #nationalpark #whitesands #santafe #travel #travelvlog #hiking
