Explaining Jankó: The advantages of the Janko Pianó - Pt. I (English subtitle)

Pianist Detlef Graul about some of the numerous advantages the Jankó piano brings with it. In 2017, pianist Detlef Graul and a small film crew visited the "Landesmuseum Stuttgart" in which you can find one of the very rare Jankó pianos. In this video, Graul explains why the Jankó piano is superior to the common piano, why it is much more efficient to practise with, why it is built according to human anatomy and how this allows him to play in a yet unseen virtuosic manner. Detlef Graul wasn't able to practise on the Jankó piano before the film was shot. The last time he played on such a piano was a few years ago within a short presentation about the history of Jankó in the "Landesmuseum Stuttgart". Unfortunately, only few Jankó pianos still exist. Most of the pianos that are contained until today were built inadequately or have several flaws. Detlef Graul dedicated most of his life to a very detailed research about Paul von Jankó, who invented the Jankó piano, and this piano’s perfect construction as well as about Francois Sudre, who invented a musical language. These ideas led Graul to developing a more efficient education, teaching and learning system. Graul wishes to make the results of his studies available to a wider public with the help of the Jankó piano.
