London Underground-83 Stock Jubilee Line 1998

As i'm away from home for most of November i thought i'd get a few vids uploaded to tide me over until my return. Here's another Underground one now, 83 Stock on the Jubilee including Charing Cross. The end for these nice, warm trains (compared to the freezing, rancid 72s that had been on this line) was near, 96 Stock were already in traffic and a lot of the MkI 83s had gone leavng the slightly newer MkII's still running. LT didn't know what to do with this fairly new build stock, they were like the D Stock in that although only 6 cars long they were in fact the length of a 7 car 59 or 72 Stock. This meant the were rather long for a lot of places, only one attempt was ever made to see if one could make it to the Elephant one night after traffic, at very slow speed and i believe it still caught the tunnel wall in places! So some were dumped at various Depot's around the combine until most went for scrap. Three cars can still be seen in London, and on a railway formation. They are in use as artist studios at Shoreditch on a short section of North London Railway viaduct that went to Broad Street (closed in 1986-see my last night vid) and can be viewed from Great Eastern Street.
