There is a rare moment in the early morning when the clouds descend on Son Tra Mountain, turning the Linh Ung Pagoda into a kingdom in the sky. Today, I’m taking my DJI Mavic Pro up to capture the 67-meter Lady Buddha as she emerges from the mist. As a US Air Force Veteran living in Da Nang, I’ve seen my share of incredible views from the air, but nothing quite matches the serenity of this place at dawn. The "Guardian of the Sea" looks completely different when the city below is hidden by the morning fog. In this cinematic flyover, we’re seeing: Son Tra in the Mist: The "Sea of Clouds" effect that makes the peninsula feel like another world. Linh Ung Pagoda: Sweeping drone shots of the ornate rooftops and hidden courtyards. Lady Buddha Up Close: A slow, cinematic cruise past the tallest statue in Vietnam (67 meters / 220 feet). The Scale: Capturing the sheer size of this monument against the backdrop of the Marble Mountains in the distance. For the drone enthusiasts watching, this was shot on the DJI Mavic Pro. Even in 2026, this bird still handles the coastal winds and misty conditions of the Son Tra Peninsula like a pro. I’m a US Air Force Veteran living as an expat in Da Nang, Vietnam. On this channel, I share "boots-on-the-ground" (and in-the-air) looks at life in Central Vietnam—from hidden temples and pagodas to VA benefit advice for veterans living abroad. Does the mist make it look more peaceful or more mysterious?
