Philip Zoubek is a virtuoso pianist who has become known not least for his work with prepared piano and analogue synthesizers. He has found his very own language, which is reminiscent of the greats of free piano playing, but which is above all oriented towards the future – none of his numerous projects and ensembles seem to repeat themselves. Zoubek comes from the Austrian town of Tulln and has lived and worked in Cologne for over twenty years. He is one of the co-founders of the Cologne musicians' collective IMPAKT, tours worldwide, is one of the heads of the collective organised electronic project Tau 5 and was awarded the WDR Jazz Prize in 2020. With his trio, together with David on bass and drummer Dominik Mahnig, he covers previously unknown territory between free jazz and abstract sound art.
