This is music that breathes, that creates a large space for the unforeseen, for great emotions as well as for bold conceptual ideas or merely enigmatic and refined allusions: Leif Berger refuses to be clearly defined for his music and his ensembles to stay open to new experiences. He has lived and worked in Cologne since 2013 and has developed into one of the most important drummers on the bustling Cologne scene in just a few years. In 2017, he founded the quartet “Hinweis auf die Sonne” with Rebekka Salomea Ziegler (vocals), Yannis Anft (keyboards) and Stefan Schönegg (electric bass), which perhaps most radically realizes his vision of open music based on songs. The band's name is a quote from Franz Kafka – a reference to its greatest source of inspiration. His exploration of Kafka's work continues to have an impact on his work to this day.
