Surah Yunus (10:74–82). This section narrates the struggle of earlier prophets and then focuses sharply on Musa (Moses, عليه السلام) and Pharaoh. It’s a story of truth versus falsehood, signs versus sorcery, and ultimately Allah’s will overpowering human arrogance. Verses 74–75 After Noah, Allah sent more messengers to their people with clear proofs. People rejected them even though they already knew the truth. So Allah sealed the hearts of the arrogant disbelievers. Then the focus shifts to Musa and Harun sent to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Allah’s signs. Theme: History repeats—messengers bring proofs, arrogant leaders reject them, hearts harden. Verses 76–77 When Musa brought the truth, Pharaoh’s chiefs dismissed it as “clear sorcery.” Musa responded: “Do you call truth sorcery when it has come to you? Sorcerers never succeed.” Theme: The timeless trick of denial—labeling truth as magic, deception, or trickery. Musa dismantles that claim. Verses 78–79 The chiefs accused Musa: “Have you come to turn us away from our forefathers’ way so you can gain greatness in the land?” Pharaoh ordered: “Bring every skilled magician to confront him.” Theme: They accused Musa of ulterior motives—power and fame. Pharaoh positioned the conflict as tradition versus rebellion. Verses 80–81 When the magicians arrived, they asked Musa to throw first. After they cast their ropes and staffs, Musa declared: “What you have brought is sorcery. Allah will make it useless. Surely Allah does not set right the work of corrupters.” Theme: Falsehood may glitter for a moment, but divine truth unmasks it. Verse 82 Allah establishes the truth by His words, even if the guilty dislike it. Theme: This is the climax—Allah guarantees truth will prevail, no matter how strong or flashy falsehood appears. ✅ Summary in one line: This passage shows a pattern: prophets come with truth, the arrogant reject it as magic or rebellion, but Allah always nullifies falsehood and establishes truth—just as He did with Musa against Pharaoh’s sorcerers. It’s basically an eternal reminder that human schemes, no matter how well-polished, collapse before divine decree.
