The monastic site at Kyle, near Ballaghmore in County Laois is one of the gems in the rich history of Ireland's saints and scholars. Here in the sixth century, St. Molua (or Lua) established a great monastery and centre of learning which became known as "Clonfert Molua." In this video we show the surviving remnants here at Kyle of that bygone era and we delve into the life of St. Molua and some of his successors. One of the key features of this famous site is the grave of St. Molua and the fine monument that was erected in 1920 to mark his final resting place. We also see St. Molua's Stone on which can be seen the impressions made by his head, knees and elbows and we visit the nearby St. Molua's Church grounds at Ballaghmore to see St. Molua's Trough.
