Mount Robson Vanlife - Exploring A Freshly Burnt Forest And The Headwaters Of The Fraser River

This episode is a continuation of my big summer vanlife road trip, and it centers around my trip to to Mount Robson Provincial Park. It all starts on the shores of Kinbasket Lake, where I was intending on going canoeing. Unfortunately it was really winter all day, so I ended up just calling a beach day. My failed canoe trip was just another one of my many plans that have gone poorly on this road trip so far. I spent some time talking about that and how it has gotten me down, but eventually I turn the page and hit the road towards Valemont British Columbia. On the way to Valemont I came across a recently burned out forest to explore. If you have been watching all my videos in this series, you might remember that in my Blue River video, I mentioned that I there was a fire that day in Valemont that prevented me from going. This is that fire. I thought it was a good full circle moment, and it was also interesting to get right inside a burned forest. Especially on this trip, which has been consistently been marked by fire. After exploring the forest fire, I found a nice gravel parking lot to camp in for the night. In the morning I flew my drone to explore my camp spot, then headed in to Valemont to use the most futuristic bathrooms I've ever seen, then grab breakfast and a chai latte at The Gathering Tree, then eventually I hit the road and headed into mount robson provinvial park. On the way I went to Reaguard Falls, which I believe is in it's own provinvial park. Rearguard falls is beautiful waterfall on the Fraser River, and it's famous for being the uppermost reach of the salmon spawning migration. This is as high as the salmon can get before spawning, and only the strongest fish make it her. Continuing on our exploration of the Fraser River, we check out mount robson itself, the tallest peak in the Canadian rockies(3,954 meters), and then we headed to Overlander falls. Overlander falls is a popular waterfall also on the Fraser River. It's a 5 km round trip from the campsite, and the campsite is also the spot where I allegedly took a free shower. After that I hit the road for one more time, and drove to what is the only lake located on the Fraser River, Moose Lake. Moose lake is beautiful and it's not far from the Lucerne campground where I am headed next. Lucerne campground is located maybe 20 minutes from the Alberta border and Jasper National Park. It sits on Yellowhead lake, at the site of an old railway camp. It's a great place to camp, and it will actually be the site of my next video where I do a camp an canoe here on Yellowhead Lake. Moose lake will also make an appearance on this channel later, as I "explore the space" as they say. Also in this channel I mentioned how the highway through Jasper had reopened, and now I finally have a proper destination in mind. I'm going to Saskatchewan!
