One of the turning points of fortress warfare was when one single shell 420mm completely destroyed the massive Belgian fort Loncin, killing 350 men in a split second. From that point it was clear that even the best fortresses were obsolete unless reinforced by massive amounts of steel rebar, the French Army moved its entire army out of the forts, and as the parts of Fort Loncin fell back to earth the massive steel domes twisted and turned returned to where they are today, the other forts surrounded before suffering the same fate. But as I took you through fort Loncin I wondered what it all would look like before, the hallways, powder magazines search lights, where were they placed the searchlights and fighting positions. I wanted to see this amazing fort intact, and than my friend Jenne told me I could, because one of the sister forts Fort Lantin was still intact and unexploded, so I packed up Magda and off we went to tour the old surviving fortress, and now I can show you, and if you had not before ween the episode from Loncin please watch it after. • FORT DE LONCIN - HISTORY'S TURNING POINT And see you all in the chat on Sunday Please visit my website to get more information: http://www.lostbattlefields.com/ 🔔𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. / @tinostruckmann ✅ Support Me Here!
