【Chex Quest - DOS Abandonware】 Squiggy's Abandonware Adventures (Free First Person Shooter DOS)

Hey friends, today's Abandonware is a full playthrough of a Doom-clone, by Chex for Chex, called Chex Quest! It's a free first person shooter involving Chex, and do you really need any more than that? Chex Quest was given out for free in cereal boxes nationwide and managed to triple the profits of Chex, which is just insane but also totally understandable. I tried to make my Mom and Dad buy me stupid cereals all the time so I could get some dumb spoon or a magnet or something... if I had seen a cereal with a video game in it, there's no way we'd be getting out of the Stop and Shop without it. This game is awesome and still totally playable in the modern day. It's a first person shooter in the style of Doom, in fact using the Doom engine, so It's just as fun and responsive as you'd expect. Even if it's a little bit confusing and challenging at times, it's good fun all the way through. Even the more annoying end levels are a fun challenge, and it's short enough to not get annoying. Plus, the music is just stellar... seriously, give it a listen while you're watching the episode, it's really something special. Funky and fun and perfectly in-theme with the wacky adventure that is Chex Quest! The only thing I could do without is the forced hidden secrets and the one unfair room towards the end where enemies could kill you without you seeing them. Those both felt like they weren't exactly fair, and was less about being challenging than it was about being frustrating and confusing. But those are only two small gripes, and they are stacked up against all the positives that go along with being a great oldschool first person shooter that's available for free as abandonware. Any complaints I have are completely overshadowed by a fun and novel game that I thoroughly enjoyed playing and paid nothing to do so. As an aside, The Angry Video Game Nerd is apparently was on a quest to steal my thunder, because he totally copied my video idea and released it a day before me, hahah. James Rolfe is a crafty one, always one step ahead of the game :P I've been working on this for days now! I don't know how I'm supposed to compete with a new AVGN episode, but such is life my friends. And, as a final thought, I'm excited to start getting back into covering the abandonware episodes again. Squiggy's Abandonware Adventures is such a small series on this channel, but I get a lot of comments saying people enjoy the videos and asking for specific games, so I'm going to try and focus on it a little more going forward. Abandonware is so fun to poke around through, and I'm sure there's tons more hidden gems just as good as Chex Quest, if not even better!
