In this video I talk about quantum mysticism — the habit of using quantum physics to justify spiritual claims, e.g. “Brahman is the quantum vacuum.” My main point is simple: You don’t need any theory to prove the most basic fact: you are here / experience is happening. And trying to “prove” non-duality with physics usually weakens your argument rather than strengthening it. Why “quantum vacuum = Brahman” misses the point In Advaita (properly understood), Brahman is not an object. It’s the knowing / the subject in which all objects, thoughts and theories appear. The moment you turn the absolute into a “thing” (even a subtle one like the quantum vacuum), you’ve already reduced it to an object within experience. Classic pointer: teeth can’t bite themselves; scissors can’t cut themselves. The subject can’t be objectified. The physics problem Even as a concept, the quantum vacuum sits inside physics and obeys physical laws. If Brahman is “subject to the laws of physics,” you’ve made physics the ultimate reality — which flips the whole direction of the teaching on its head. Why tying spirituality to science dates you Science is brilliant partly because it updates itself. But if you attach your deepest insight to current science, you’ll eventually sound dated when theories change. I give an example using David Bohm and the old “triune brain” model — interesting, but now seen as a simplistic framework in neuroscience. What you actually are — the fact of being aware — doesn’t get outdated. It’s timeless. You don’t need quantum physics (or any external theory) to validate it. Thanks for watching. Question: Do quantum explanations help clarify non-duality for you, or do they distract from direct recognition?
