Wednesday, February 11, 2026 Wednesday Night Bible Study Minister Angela McElroy "God's Promise For Long Life" Sermon Notes: 2 Corinthians 1:20 *"All the promises, every promise, every single individual promise. Yes, each and every promise of God in HIM is yea and in HIM Amen! Each and every promise of GOD in HIM, that is in Jesus, is yes and in Jesus Amen! Jesus gave us so much more than we realize when He offered His life and presented Himself as a sacrifice to God the Father, for our sakes. When we believe and receive His promises for ourselves, God gets the glory, through us. GOD gets the GLORY through us." *"But because God said it in the Bible, it is a promise WE can believe to see in our lifetime." *"One of the foundational Christian beliefs that we find in the Bible is that God cannot lie." Titus 1:2 *"It’s not that God will not lie. The Bible says God CANNOT lie. He is the God of truth meaning He CANNOT speak words that are not true." *"God keeps His promises. No matter how long it takes. His word is true generation after generation." Isaiah 65:16 Psalm 31:5 *"He is the God of truth." Psalm 119:72 Exodus 20:12 *"This verse is so important that it, or a version of it, is repeated several times in the scriptures." Deuteronomy 5:16 Matthew 15:3-4 Mark 7:9-10 Matthew 19:19 Ephesians 6:1-3 *"To honor your father and mother is to respect them, to be obedient to them and to recognize the authority that God gave them as parents. Honoring our parents is an act of humbling ourselves to someone else. It’s not thinking of ourselves higher than we ought. At every age, no matter how old we are, we must humble ourselves to honor our father and mother." *"God tied this promise of long life to honoring our parents because our parents are the first ones to love us and care for us. It sets the stage for us to love others, have respect for people, to respect authority, and not to have a hard heart. Honoring our father and mother ultimately leads us to have an open heart to honor and believe God and to believe in His Son, Jesus Christ." *"Without the proper respect for authority and with no belief in God, we become people with no restraint and no discipline. No one can tell us anything. We don’t have ears to hear. We may live recklessly. We may not have any morals. And the thoughts and intents of our heart become evil." Luke 2:49-51 Matthew 6:9 John 14:8-10 *"Honor for our natural father and mother leads us to honoring God the Father, which if we believe it, will lead to long life." Proverbs 16:1 *"Gray hair or getting older is gained by living a godly life." John 3:30 Acts 20:22-25 *"Of course we know, not everyone will live a long life. After preaching, teaching, healing the people, and declaring the good news of salvation, Jesus was crucified at around 33 years old. He cried out, "IT IS FINISHED," before giving up His Life as a sacrifice for our sins. He finished the work God gave Him to do and left the earth when the work was accomplished." Luke 13: 4-5 *"Tragedies happen. People die. But God, delivers us from evil." Ephesians 6:11-13 *"We can believe and confess, no evil shall befall us and no plague shall come nigh our dwelling. We fight the good fight of faith. We don’t give in to evil or to evil reports that contradict the word of God. We use God’s word as our protection and our shield." Psalm 91:16 *"This says to me, that we leave the earth when the plan of God for our lives matches our satisfaction. Some of us are satisfied in our seventies, or eighties or beyond. And that’s ok. Some may be satisfied but God may have more work for us to do. If that’s the case, you’re not going anywhere." *"The promise of God for long life is ours to receive. It’s ours to confess, to believe and to teach to our families. God wants us to remember this promise when we’re confessing healing for our bodies. He wants us to have the complete package, not just healing, but healing and long life. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. We can hold on to this promise and not allow the enemy to steal it from us." John 10:10 Jeremiah 29:11 "This is God’s promise. We can believe for it! In Jesus’ name. Amen."
