What's the RIGHT amount of engine compression to build your Hot Rod for? 8.5 : 1, 9.5 : 1, 10.5 : 1? Even more? What kind of fuel do you build for? 87 octane? 91 octane? 93 octane? e85? What are your plans for the NEXT phase of your car? There are a lot of things to talk about and consider, and I would like to use two of my current toys to make a point. Enter my 1979 AMC Spirit AMX powered by an AMC 304 V8, and my 1970 Pontiac LeMans powered by a Pontiac 455. Both of these car are old school classic american muscle car builds, no LS swaps here, just old school iron V8s with iron heads. But they are built in two pretty different ways with one major difference, static engine compression. One is built for 87 octane, one is built for 93 octane. Which one's better? Which one would YOU do?
