Today is my first day walking the streets of Anjuna, Goa, where I ask several people if there are any older hippies still around the area and if so where they might be. One of the men I ask as to the whereabouts of some older travelers owns two hostels in Anjuna - he lets me into his life a little telling me what business is like for him and what he hopes for his future. I also meet a lady making a belt on the roadside before she leads me to her stall where I buy a couple of bracelets. She tells me of her children, how long she's lived in Anjuna, and how long it takes to make a belt. Masala dosa is had for lunch at a small cafe where the owner explains what actually goes into the dish. Earlier the same man trusted me enough to defer payment for a coffee as there wasn't enough change to break the five hundred rupee note I had. I walk Anjuna beach talking to local holiday makers and a fisherman before the rain made it difficult to stay any longer. Today there was a problem with street dogs as a number of them would follow and lunge at me while walking around the lanes. A couple of locals helped out by scaring them off and giving me a stick for any future issues I might have.
