What do Indian people want? I asked and the answers surprised me. Varkala.

Today I walk the cliffs of Varkala, India, talking to all sorts of local people including a couple who never went to school but managed to carve out a successful life with their cliff-side shop. I ask the lovely couple about their experience moving from their home village to start a business even though they can't read or write. I also meet a young man who is traveling and has some conflict with what he wants to do in life and what his family expects him to do, like take over the family business. A software engineer on her fourth visit to the area is also kind enough to chat with me and tell me about her recent marriage, work life balance, as well as her hopes and dreams for her future. Benny's Cafe is a popular hangout for local expats not least due to their wonderful ice coffees which are a must if visiting the area. benny is kind enough to give me some of his time to chat about his life. Three friends who are all married with one child are having a girls holiday together by themselves and are some of the most easy going, confident women I've met. Yet another young guy I meet from Lucknow lets us into his life for a short while before he explains he wants to go the the UK or America for work for no other reason than the money. Last but not least I meet the most lovely stall owner selling dresses who is just a wonderful soul and I feel instantly connected to her and the way she views life. She is another women who tis kind enough to tell us bits and pieces of her life. In this video I also explain briefly why I'm single and the inherent difficulties this lifestyle brings with it when considering having a partner. Most sixty year-old women don't want to pack up and leave every four days. I also give a couple of surf updates because a subscriber said he enjoyed them.
