PhD candidate Marcela Machado, from UDESC, leads the evaluation routine, which includes: Temperature measurement using a pyrometer and intravaginal sensors (iButtons); Blood sampling, milk yield control, and respiratory rate tracking; Assessment of two feed additives compared to a control group. Additionally, the team follows a feeding routine with up to 12 push-ups per day, measures refusals, adjusts diets daily, and tests strategies to ensure thermal comfort and stable intake.
