*DISCLAIMER: Hacking into any sort of public warning system is a felony. The activation tones used in this video are to notify me & other siren enthusiasts when a siren is about to activate, give me & others an idea on which type of tones are used to activate these sirens (i.e. two-tone, FSK, DTMF), and for the sake of enjoyment. They are not intended to be used to set off any siren or system of sirens whenever we feel like it. If any of you misuse the tones in this video, I will not cover for you and you will be held fully accountable for your actions. Also, if any of you own a two-way radio, make sure it is turned off before watching this video since they can apparently transmit activation tones in a video format. The volume on my scanner was lowered so that hopefully no hacking incidents occur. After checking the weather forecast for Milwaukee and realizing that it was going to be clear this month, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to film one of their sirens. Because in Milwaukee County, their Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is very stingy about the weather, so you never know if an opportunity like this will open up the next month or so. This month, I decided to hit up a siren on the south side of the county which is the ASC Alertronic 8000 in St. Francis. This siren is located in a parking lot off of Nicholson Ave and is in fact (as far as I know) the only electronic siren controlled by the county. While I was expecting this siren to sound in both alert & attack with the rest of the system, it seemed to have other ideas and perform a cycle of pulsed steady & pulsed wail instead. Yep! I think you read my title or description correctly. This siren performed a cycle of pulsed steady & pulsed wail. If any of you guys have watched Mitchell's (Montecat 33's) video of this Alertronic that he filmed back in June of 2018, you'd probably remember that it malfunctioned causing the siren itself to sound the way it did this month. It's almost as if I time traveled back into the past, LOL!!! According to YouTube user AcousticTheory, he believed that the amplifier constantly powering on & off was responsible for causing those signals to sound more pulsed back then. I wonder if the amplifier on this Alertronic decided to act up again? I thought this siren would've performed a regular alert & attack since it has been fixed after June of 2018, but maybe not. I'm also not sure how I feel about what I witnessed, but at the same time, I'm kinda amused that I was able to capture this Alertronic malfunctioning on camera since there haven't been any instances of this sort of thing happening on other Alertronics or other ASC electronic sirens in general. It really comes to show how unreliable ASC electronic sirens can be compared to ACA electronic sirens. Luckily, after Mitchell saw the behind-the-scenes video I filmed of this siren, he was able to report the issue to the OEM, so hopefully, this siren won't act up again the next time the county tests their sirens. Sirens in Milwaukee County are tested on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 12:00 PM if the weather allows for it. That is, if there's no overcast skies, rain, thunderstorms, snow, etc. *Curious to hear how this Alertronic is supposed to sound?
