The South-eastern Glossy Black-Cockatoo is at risk of population decline after losing feed trees in the devastating Australian bushfires of 2019-20. Data about Glossy Black-Cockatoos and their feed trees are vital for planning bushfire recovery and conservation work. In this video, the Glossy Black Conservancy's Dr Daniella Teixeira, a researcher specialising in Glossy Black-Cockatoos describes how to tell the difference between Glossies and other black-cockatoos, how to tell the age and sex of birds and how to identify feed trees and how to tell the age of chewings. This video was produced for the Great Glossy Count - a partnership between BirdLife Australia and the Glossy Black Conservancy, funded by BirdLife Australia's supporters and a grant awarded under the Australian Government’s Regional Bushfire Recovery for Multiregional Species and Strategic Projects Program. Filmed and directed by: James Wills, Shots Fired Productions Presented by: Dr Daniella Teixeira, Glossy Black Conservancy Produced by: Samantha Morris, Wombat Creative Technical advice by: Dr Pamela Fallow and Dr Laura Tan, BirdLife Australia Feature image by: Andrew Peacock @footloosefotography
