#isleofman #steamrailway #manxtransportfestival The first in a six part series of videos, recorded during the annual Manx Transport Festival in July & August 2024 The Isle of Man Railway was once again involved with various activities during the annual Summer transport extravaganza, with 2024 marking the 150th anniversary of the 'Southern' route to Port Erin being opened for business. A few events were held on the 13-mile route (the only one remaining of the once extensive 3ft gauge network serving Peel & Ramsey as well), with no less than four active steam locos hard at work. They included three of the current Beyer Peacock fleet (No.4 Loch, No.11 Maitland and No.13 Kissack), supplemented by the former Manx Northern Dubs 0-6-0 tank No.4 (IOMR No.15) Caledonia. Goods van G.1, the privately owned MNR Cleminson Coach No.6 and the 'Foxdale' Coach No.17 also featured. Events included a few photo charters, a photography evening at Port Erin, and tours of the railway sheds, workshops and signal box at Douglas. This video chronicles these events, as they happened. DISCLAIMER: Any lineside or track-level shots (footage and photographs) were recorded under close supervision from the staff and/or from positions of safety. Please do not trespass on the railway, at any time. Locations include Douglas, Keristal, Port Soderick, Meary Veg, Santon, Ballasalla, Castletown, Ballabeg, Colby, Port St Mary and Port Erin.
