Aprilia SR150R Aww..Aprilia…Thank You…Thank you… For giving us the SR150 Of all the millions of scooters in our country you are the only one worthy of the name " Sport Scooter". Every time I look at you I still fell in love , like the first time I saw you..you're sweet but sharp Italian lines with the purposeful beak, looking for the next kill..your fat 14 inch sports tyre mated to one of the most beautiful alloys to be fitted on a production scooter specially the red coloured ones…the twin pot front brake caliper ( specially the gold coloured ones on the RACE).. the vicious snarl, emitting from your engine on full chat.. your colours and graffics..specially the RACE version with the Factory Aprilia MotoGP colour scheme..your purposeful stance..short and stubby…exactly what a sport scooter should look like..not like some wannabe who squat on their heels and claimed to be a sport scooter just because they've got some fancy lap timer on the dash board. ..You are the epitome of so many youngsters and some old mans dream..haha!! Twisting your throttle, (which has just the right weight by the way) will take us upto 60kh in a very short time ( some scooters are already struggling here)..with a big curve looming I kept twisting your throttle…the feel transmitting from your stubby fork and sport tyres..is out of this world ..for a scooter. I have never felt such satisfaction taking a curve on a scooter, in fact I'm sure you'll give some bikes a run for their money. This feeling was confirmed when I checked my GoPro footage. I was doing 100kh in one of the corners..well what more can I say..you don’t see that often in a scooter..hahhaa.. Then, suddenly a big pot hole was in the middle of the road..in fact it was a moon crater..courtesy of Mizoram Government. With panic button looming I squeezed the brakes as hard as I dare ( maybe not as hard as I've squeezed some ladies..hahaha)..your twin pot front brake caliper slowed down the terminal speed perfectly helped by the sport tyre (which we have to deflate a bit, like 20-22 psi at the back and 19-20psi at the front. With the company spec psi we are in danger of loosing our teeth). Then , inside the crater I decided to speed up again, wanting to see just how much you can take..well , it went quite well ignoring the bone jarring effect transmitted to my arms and we left with all our teeth intact , thanks to your 14inch wheels. Then, a long straight follows, twisting your throttle to the stop, your rikity off beat sound in start up is replaced by an angry snarl, like a hornet going for the kill..without noticing we've already crossed the 100kh mark. Then, I noticed you still kept on climbing reaching the indicated top speed of 120kh on the antiquated analogue speedo..Wowww..I did not expect this..it was an experience not easily forgotten. I say again..Thank You Aprilia for giving us a proper Sport Scooter, something different which stand out form all the millions of scooters in our country. Thank You for having the guts to introduce something so different that only a tiny percentage of riders can appreciate , but gives immense satisfaction to this tiny percentage of riders. You have won our hearts and support for your future projects. Please bring out more radical products, you will always find a diehard fan like me supporting you..
