During the first Vision Europe 2030 follow-up event, held in New York as part of “The Last Mile” series, Vicki Durston from Breast Cancer Network Australia reflects on the role of advocacy in ensuring that lived experiences inform global health policy. Drawing on her involvement with the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative and the ABC Global Alliance, she highlights the importance of sharing insights across countries to address persistent inequities in care. She raises concerns about the lack of visibility of breast cancer in recent political declarations, underscoring the broader challenges around women’s health and healthcare rights. Emphasising the need for prioritisation at the global level, she calls for stronger accountability to ensure that leading causes of cancer-related mortality for women are adequately addressed in policy and practice.
