Welcome to Say What You Mean, an English learning channel. I’m Chris. How are you today? I hope you are awesome! I’m great, thank you. Today’s topic is: what do you do and when. I will use the verbs “go” and “get” in many common places. This listening video is for beginners: A level. So listen closely and let’s get to work. I woke up at 6:30 today. I woke up at 6:30 on Sunday–on a day off. I normally don’t work on Sundays, so I don’t have to wake up early. But I did today. I got up when I woke up. I normally get up right after I wake up. After I got up, I got dressed. I normally wear long pajama pants in the morning. After I get dressed, I go outside with my dog. Before we go outside, I turn on the tea kettle and boil water for tea. After we go outside, I make breakfast for us and then I get ready for work. To get ready for work, I get dressed–I take off my pajamas and put on my work clothes, I brush my teeth, I get my computer and bag, and I check that I have what I need. I go to work at 9:00, but I don’t go to work everyday. I also work from home. I get to work at about 9:15. It takes me about 15 minutes to get to work. I teach class at the office as well as from home. I sometimes work all day. Other days, I only work part of the day. I sometimes have lunch at work. I eat lunch at around 12:30. I like to go to the Asian supermarket near my office. It has great things to eat for lunch. I go shopping at the Asian market, too. They have good fruits, vegetables, tea, and other items. After I work, I go home. It takes about 15 minutes to ride my bike home. So, I get home 15 minutes after I leave work. On most days, I get home in the afternoon. But sometimes, I get home at night. After I get home, I take Rosa out on a walk. Sometimes, we go walking for an hour. But normally, we go walking for about 30 minutes. We go to the university campus near our apartment–there is a lot of grass and some good sidewalks. After we walk, we have dinner and watch some Netflix. Sometimes, we go out to a restaurant on the weekend. We also get take out. We like getting take out more than going to a restaurant. But normally, we eat at home. After dinner, we take Rosa out on one last walk. She doesn’t really like to go out late in the evening, but it’s better than going out in the middle of the night. Before I go to bed, I get ready for bed–I do everything I want to do before bed. I shower, I brush my teeth. I take out my contacts. I get undressed. And then I get into bed. Once I go to bed, I try to read before I fall asleep. But I normally only read for about 5 minutes before I fall asleep. I pretty much go to sleep as soon as I go to bed. I go to bed at around 10:30 during the week and at around 11:30 on the weekends. And I probably go to sleep 5 minutes after I go to bed haha. Okay everyone, that’s it for this video. How was it? I hope you learned something! Words and phrases: To wake up→ when your eyes open in the morning To get up→ to get out of the bed To get dressed→ to put clothes on.
