Well, I thought this might happen. We recently discovered this Thunderbolt on the east side of Logansport just down the road from a 2001. I had a feeling there might be issues with it so I set up between the 2 sirens just in case. It's a good thing I did because the Thunderbolt only rotated (which made for a kind of comical beginning to the video). I swung around to record the 2001 but because part of the system only sounded for 1 minute, I didn't get quite set up before the siren wound down. Some of the sirens to the southwest continued on for a full 3 minute test after the 2001 wound down so I left the camera rolling. Sorry for the traffic noise during this time. This video was filmed on March 21st, 2017 at 10:15 a.m. during the morning test on Indiana Severe Weather Awareness Tornado Drill day. Sirens in Logansport and Cass county are usually tested on the first Monday of the month at 10 a.m. Maintenance is allegedly performed twice a year by Cass County and Logansport - in Feb and Sept/Oct - but judging by the Thunderbolt failure, they may have missed the February maintenance date. The Thunderbolt is located on top of a strip mall (that apparently houses a garage for the police department) at Market St. and Roselawn Dr. The 2001 is located near the schools on Lafayette Dr. and Tomlinson Dr. The failure of the Thunderbolt was reported to the EMA who's director went to the siren for the evening test and verified that it didn't sound. They will be fixing the issue and the siren will be back in service. The EMA director says that they like to keep the old sirens around because they "are louder and can be heard from further away than the newer sirens" :).
