Russia invaded the village in late February. After a month of intense fighting, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated it. We asked the locals about life during the occupation. They still haven’t recovered. The horrors of the invasion were truly beyond belief. Some stayed through it all, and many of them were killed. Locals are struggling to rebuild their homes and many people have been unable to come home. Right now, the people of Lukyanivka are struggling to get the most basic of necessities and even put food on the table. Our volunteers offered a shoulder to cry on and now we’re fighting to help these poor people get their lives back --- and we won’t give up!
