Construction on a bridge had traffic down to one lane alternating on Highway 321 east of Cleveland. Multiple vehicles were stopped in the eastbound lane awaiting instructions to go. A Pinnacle 18-wheeler loaded with propane failed to slow down, The driver hit his brakes within 100 feet of approaching the stopped traffic as he was traveling at close to highway speed. He slammed into two pickup trucks, sandwiching them between the tanker and another tanker directly in front of the pickup that was also stopped. Two victims on their way back to Louisiana from the silver Dodge pickup were transported in critical condition by helicopter. Another adult and child from the same pickup were transported in stable condition by ground. The driver of the Ford F-150, owned by Kinder Morgan suffered an elbow injury and was transported. DPS investigated the crash. SH 321 was closed between the Highway 105 bypass and SH 105/SH321 intersection in Tarkington until 4pm when it reopened. Both 18-wheelers were hauling hazardous material, and neither sustained damage to the tank.
