Today I wanted to introduce you to a training method called “Greasing the Groove.” GTG was made famous by Pavel Tsatsouline— a former Soviet Special Forces training instructor + world renowned fitness instructor who is the founder and Chair of Strong First, Inc. Pavel believes that “Strength is a skill,” and like any skill you can practice to improve GTG is a way of improving a movement by sneaking in more Volume of training at 20-50% of your maximal load, often throughout the day. Continued practice allows the movement to feel more natural, and in the long run, much easier! It is important to NOT try too hard.
