Waking up late in a tiny Thai village, sipping coffee from an old-school coffee pot, then ending the day at Pai Hot Springs and an all-you-can-eat mu krata buffet — all on a budget. In this vlog we explore real everyday life in Northern Thailand: village breakfasts, cheap bus tickets, “million dollar” mountain views, and a full family trip to Pai. In today’s video you’ll see: Slow village morning – making coffee in an old-school espresso pot with Folgers from America and discounted lactose-free milk from Big C Local Shan-style breakfast – including a khao soi stir fry that she calls “Shan spaghetti” and I have no idea what half of the dishes are How to save money on bus tickets – we go to the local bus station instead of booking online and score front-row seats on the big bus to Chiang Mai for cheaper. Done deal here. Thai Wife Always right gonna save you a few baht on some local hacks. Kew Lom Viewpoint & Jabbo “Million Dollar View” – riding up the mountain in the rain, arriving freezing and under-dressed, but rewarded with epic views, coffee, and noodle soup How cheap is it really? – we spend around 260 THB (~$7.20 USD) for coffee, tea, noodle soups, and a table with a million-dollar view Village coffee shop life – grabbing a sugary mocha at Cha Makow and watching my wife get absorbed in her phone while my father-in-law has no idea what I’m talking about Road trip to Pai Hot Springs – loading the pickup truck with family and friends, winding through the mountain roads, and both of us getting a little car sick on the way Hot springs story time – remembering the crazy hot spring in San Kamphaeng where you can boil eggs right in the water Monsoon chaos – getting caught in a downpour, kids in the back of the truck getting soaked, cows in the rain, and everyone waiting it out Mu krata buffet at Sure View – ending the day with a massive all-you-can-eat Thai BBQ: ice cream, pasta, fried rice, buns, vegetables, sauces, and tons of meat in a cooling fridge… and watching my wife absolutely destroy the buffet like a pro 😆 If you’re curious what real everyday life in Northern Thailand looks like — not just the tourist highlights — this is it: coffee, family, mountains, hot springs, rainstorms, and way too much food. I’m an early retiree living in Thailand with my Thai wife, exploring Northern Thailand, Mae Hong Son, Pai, Chiang Mai and building a simple, low-cost lifestyle. I share daily life, travel, money hacks, and realistic costs of living in Thailand as a foreigner (farang).
