Today I’m taking you to a friend’s house here in Sop Pong, a small village in northern Thailand, in the Mae Hong Son province. This isn’t a resort, a hotel, or anything fancy. It’s a real home where a family lives, works, cooks, raises kids, and goes about daily life in a Thai village. The house is what I’d call a modern village-style home. It’s not a traditional bamboo stilt house, but it’s still very different from what most people are used to in the West. Multiple buildings, several bathrooms, outdoor spaces, shared courtyards, and rooms added over time as the family grows. You’ll see outdoor bathrooms, a squat toilet, an open-air kitchen making seriously spicy food, and even a small garden with Thai eggplants growing right in the yard. Addresses don’t really work the same way here either. People give directions using landmarks, other people’s houses, or things like “near the big tree.” It sounds confusing at first, but somehow everyone knows exactly where to go. You’ll also see how several generations live together, how rooms get repurposed, and how new sections of the house are being built over time. This is very common in rural Thailand. Homes evolve instead of being finished all at once. This video is just a casual walk-through, showing what everyday village life looks like in northern Thailand. Nothing staged, nothing polished, just how people actually live here. If you want to see more house tours like this, especially real village homes instead of tourist places, leave a comment and let me know. Thanks for watching.
