The last stop, we decided to go through Lisbon Portugal on our way back home to just taste this small but powerful and beautiful country. We were really sad to say good-bye to Spain, not sure when we would be able to come back. Lisboa, Lisbon in English, was old, narrow, small, and lots of diesel fuel smoke was my first impression. After we got off of subway we were shocked to find out that our Euro data plan didn't work anymore so we were in the middle of nowhere, lost. I tried out my little Portuguese in the street and managed to find our way to our hotel with the help from a guy working at the corner restaurant. A lady at the hotel hinted that the roaming setting might have been off on my daughter's phone and that was it. Nobody in our family thought it would be necessary to use roaming service when we crossed countries in Euro zone. Anyway, the streets on Lisbon were tougher than in Spain since they were more bumpy to walk with our luggage on hand. First off we had to head over to the TimeOut Market place( Mercado da Ribeira ) where you can eat different cuisine whatever you want. We really enjoyed our late lunch there. On our way there we passed by the famous Funiculars on which you can easily move up and down the 45 degree steep hills. The TimeOut Market was so good we came back again later to have our dinner there as well. We walked around mainly Bairro Alto and Alfama District where our hotel was located. We spent some time on Praça do Comércio, also known as Terreiro do Paço where you can see Arco da Rua Augusta in the north and Statue of King José I in the middle of the square. And then we moved on to catch this famous Tram 28, everybody in our family agreed we should take the tram no matter how long was the wait. Fortunately because of the low season that we were in the wait was less than an hour. We truly enjoyed our ride but although Wife insisted to ride to the end, we had to get off way before its final destination since it was getting late. My daughter strongly insisted we had to try this famous Pasteis de Nata, Portuguese tart and she was right it was so rich in flavour we'd never forget the taste. We headed back to the TimeOut market for our late dinner and followed by another slow walk around the city before we'd call it a day. Good-bye Lisboa and good-bye Portugal and also Spain...
