I run the INTEGRITY lab which is short for Integrated, Resilient, and Intelligent Energy Systems. Hi everyone, my name is Xiaoyu Ge. I am second year PHD student working in the INTEGRITY lab and my research is focused in the machine learning in smart grids. I would like to talk about the testbed that we have recently purchased from the Bitlismen company. As you can see, here is the solar emulated testbed which allows you to control different profiles for solar energy systems. A good feature with this testbed is that you can fully customize this. We also have a microgrid platform with electric vehicle emulation, battery storage system and also a nice feature of this testbed is the SCADA platform, as you can see we can control different nodes in the system through different monitors we can do remotely or we can manually control the whole testbed. The other feature that we have here, which I really like and it’s going to be very practical for our work, is the integration with our Power Hardware in the Loop testbed so this is a 10kW microgrid testbed. A feature that we really like is that this whole testbed from Bitlismen can be integrated to our power hardware in the loop OPAL -RT simulator so we can simulate some part of the Electricity Grid such as microgrids or distribution systems and then connect physical devices such as solar emulator and battery storage and electric vehicle to this. This is a unique feature which not many testbeds have so this is what I really like about Bitlismen. Another feature that I really like about their products is that they allow you to customize their solutions so this is not just one solution should fit all. Depending on your need they work with you to customize your needs. For example, the integration to OPAL-RT was something that I really wanted for my research that's why I requested and they actually granted this request and developed the product which is here. This device is gonna allow me to connect their testbed to the OPAL-RT. So just wanted to introduce you to our testbed and we will post some more videos on testing and operation of the system. Here I want Xiaoyu to show one small feature about this testbed to the audience. Hi. Here is the pure solar simulator and after we turn this on, here there are two control modes, one is the remote control one is the local control. Now we select local control and a way you can do this to control the solar panels like you can increase the solar intensity. This one is for PV panel rotation like this manually this way and this way [shows the dual axis rotation of the PV panel in different directions]. This one is for the sun simulator. We can change the location of the sun like this way, here, here, here [shows the dual axis rotation of the Sun simulator in different directions]. And we can switch it to the remote mode, we can control all of this in the software like this. Here we can increase the Sun light. After we change this, this will also increase [shows the actual radiation change in the trainer]. And here we can change the position of the PV panel like this way. And this is for Sun simulator".
