Characteristic content of muscle cells are myofibrils, T tubules... and sarcoplasmic reticulum. Myofibrils are an array of sarcomere arranged linearly. Its made up of thin filaments and thick filaments. Thin filaments are made up of actin, tropomyosin, and troponin. Thick filaments are made up of myosin 2 molecules. These filaments are the contractile machinery of the muscle. The myofibrils are surrounded by T-tubule - sarcoplasmic reticulum system. T tubules invaginate from the cell membrane and branches to make a network of t-tubules around myofibrils. Associated with it is the sarcoplasmic reticulum that stores Ca. Together these T tubules and sarcoplasmic reticulum play very important role in excitation-contraction coupling. Dispersed throughout the cytoplasm are mitochondria that supply ATP for muscle contraction. 📽 More videos on Musculoskeletal System: • Neuromuscular Junction & Transmission: • Neuromuscular Junction Structure & Neuromu... • Pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis: • Pathophysiology of Myasthenia Gravis • Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis: • Treatment of Myasthenia Gravis ● Follow me at: • Instagram: / nonstopneuron • Facebook: / nonstopneuron Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:17 Muscle Fasciculus 00:24 Muscle Fiber (Myofiber or Muscle Cell) 01:29 Myofibrils 01:40 Sarcomere 02:09 Thin Filaments (Actin, Troponin, Tropomyosin) 03:49 Thick Filaments (Myosin) 05:34 Bands: Light Band & Dark Band 06:42 Cut Section of Sarcomere 07:33 Z Disk 07:50 Striated Appearance 08:27 T-tubule Sarcoplasmic Reticulum System 08:41 Transverse Tubules (T-Tubules) 09:24 Sarcoplasmic Reticulum (SER) 10:38 Triad Junction 10:52 Calcium Release Channels (Ryanodine Receptors) 11:31 Other Organelles (Sarcoplasm, Mitochondria, Nuclei, Sarcolemma) 12:35 Summary Dr Vipul Navadiya DISCLAIMER: This video is for education purposes only.
