Survivors of Boulder, Colorado Shooting Recount Attack: 'I Escaped Death by 10 Seconds'

Two survivors of the Boulder, Colorado supermarket shooting have described what they experienced as ten people were killed on Monday. Logan Smith works at the King Soopers supermarket. He told Denver TV station KMGH that he was speaking to another employee, his friend Denny Strong, when the shooting began. "I saw him run off, I ran in the other direction, and that was the last time I saw him." Smith added that he knew something was wrong when he didn't hear from Strong afterwards. "I immediately had a ball drop in my gut." Strong was one of the ten victims. Smith also said he saw co-worker Rikki Olds shot. She was also one of the victims. "My friend Rikki, I witnessed her fall to the ground, I did see her get shot. She was the only one that I could visibly see." Brian Kruesi told Minneapolis TV station KSTP that he recently moved to Colorado from Minnesota, and he was shopping at the store when the attack began. "There's a guy in tactical gear with an AR 15 and he's just starts shooting. So I'd already heard three shots before I saw him. And then I probably heard maybe three or four more shots after I had exited the store and actually saw him. So obviously, I just left my car, all the groceries." Twenty-one-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, who is from the Denver suburb of Arvada, was booked into jail Tuesday on murder charges a day after the attack. He was due to make a first court appearance Thursday.
