(17:41) #theCUBE #CCL2015 #SiliconANGLE --- --- The “black art” of enterprise engineering | #CCL2015 by Betsy Amy-Vogt | Sep 9, 2015 “No one wins if you’re a dick at the beginning of the process,” said serial entrepreneur Jay Adelson, cofounder and general partner at Center Electric, LLC, discussing the shared risk between the investor and the innovator at the start of a relationship. John Furrier and Jeff Frick, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, sat down with Adelson during Console Connect LIVE 2015 at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco. Selling shovels to miners Center Electric’s main focus right now is the Internet of Things (IoT), but specifically the infrastructure that will be required to support the IoT: “What we want to do is sell shovels to the miners,” said Adelson. “At this early stage you have to go hunting to find these infrastructure deals.” Adelson thinks that Console is “really interesting.” As someone on the management side of enterprise engineering, he has always regarded it as something of a “black art,” but now Console “magically extracts” enterprise from having to manage the complicated relationships required for Direct Connect, a more secure, peer-to-peer connectivity. “You’re accessing through point-and-click methodology. How do you find your match? Find the right person to connect with? … It’s almost a dating service!” Adelson joked. @theCUBE #ccl2015
