Officers pursue possible shooting suspect in Oxnard

11-13-21 • Oxnard • 12:34am • an Oxnard Police Department officer reported multiple shots being fired at the parking structure on 3rd Street and B Street. Additional officers were requested to respond lights and siren. A suspect was being described as a Hispanic male wearing a purple jersey with a white under shirt. An officer responding to the area spotted a black Chevy Tahoe leaving the area on Oxnard Boulevard, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The want for the traffic stop was for possible assault with a deadly weapon for the parking structure incident. The driver of the Tahoe failed to yield to the traffic stop, and a vehicle pursuit began. The pursuit turned onto Cooper road with the driver running through multiple stop signs. Speeds were reported at 45 miles per hour. The pursuit continued towards Rose Avenue. From Rose, the driver continued into an alleyway on San Gorgonio where the driver finally stopped. The driver was taken into custody at approximately 12:44am. Just minutes later, a 16 year old shooting victim was reported to have shown up at the St. John's Hospital. Additional Oxnard PD officers responded to the hospital. In the meantime, a crime scene with multiple shell casings and a unloaded magazine was located and taped off on the first and second level of the 3rd Street parking structure. A Sergeant with Oxnard Police stated “An active investigation was underway to see if all the events were related, and if the pursuit driver was possibly the suspect in the shooting”.
