Texas State Park Pass In this video the Two Tired Teachers tell you everything they know about one of the greatest money savers at Texas State Parks, the park pass. With a very few exceptions, all state parks charge entrance fees to coverage use of the park. The entrance fee runs from $2 or $3 to $7 or $8. The entrance fee is charged per person per day you are in the park. In most if not all parks, children under 13 aren't charged the entrance fee. The $70 park pass is good for a calendar year, and it can pay for itself in a visit to a single park. One way it saves money, is that park entrance fees are waived with a park pass for the pass holder and his/her guests. While we were filming this video, we saved $56 for entrance fees. One of the big changes with the park pass is that now is that there are unlimited coupons. The coupons are good if you are in staying in the same park at the same campsite for two consecutive nights. You get half off the campsite fee with the unlimited coupons. When you check into a park with a park pass, they know you have the "coupons." By using the park pass while we were shooting this video, we saved $12.50 on the campsite the second night. When you couple that with the $56 in entrance fees that we saved, onn this one trip the $70 park pass saved us $68.50. According to the Texas State Park Pass Details, "If you enter the park by bicycle, motorcycle, or on foot, you can bring as many as 14 guests with you who are entering the same way." The park pass also gives you 10% off purchases made at the park store and on rentals at the park. That is true for most parks, but you will probably want to check out specific details at the park itself. This year the Two Tired Teachers have experienced many, many changes. Because of those changes and specifically because we moved, we got a second park pass. If you want to drive without taking a gas guzzzling tow vehicle, the second park pass allows you to add a vehicle to your campsite. The second park pass is $25.
