Hiking along the trail in spring we saw spectacular waterfalls along the trail. The McDonald Creek was flowing rapidly as it cut it's way down to Lake McDonald. Along our hike we had the opportunity to see a deer trail side. Met up with a local artist who was painting the falls and had a nice conversation. Lake McDonald is one of the first places you will see as you begin your journey on the Going to the Sun Road. There are several pull outs along the way for you to stop and enjoy the sights of Lake McDonald. If you are lucky you will catch Lake McDonald on a calm day when the reflections of the mountains are simply amazing. From Lake McDonald you continue your journey up Going to the Sun Road to Avalanche, where you can take a hike on Trail of the Cedars, and back into Avalanche Lake. Both are truly awesome hikes providing breathtaking views. Trail of the Cedars is one of two handicap accessible trails within the park and should not be overlooked. The Waterfall in the gorge at Trail to the Cedars is awe inspiring as it has carved a path through stone over thousands of years. Be sure to include Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park on your to do list while visiting Glacier National Park.
