If we can just be humble enough to see ourselves, we will be able to understand, empathize, reproach, and forgive others, knowing that what we're doing for them we are actually doing for ourselves. If we see our wrongdoings, we can clearly see the wrongdoings of others and if we correct ourselves we can see clearly how to correct others. Even though we are easily imposed upon that doesn't mean that the devil will allow us to be meek in peace. He will encourage us to step out of meekness and be harmful to people with the hopes of proving ourselves to be fearless or avoiding being taken advantage of which is actually contrary to the teachings of Christ. If you are truly following Christ, don't be surprised when people follow you. Not to follow you as you follow Christ, but to find fault that we should not have in us in the first place. If you do good for people; give to them, support them, fight for them, etc. don't do so with the desire for it to be reciprocated. Understand that our reward comes from God and not man. There are old testament laws that were fulfilled in Jesus Christ, some people both intentionally and unintentionally use the laws of old to make the commandments and salvation of God today of no effect.
