#TodayGospelReading #GospelReadingforToday #HolyMassReadings #HolyMassGospel Today's Catholic Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection - Wednesday, February 18, 2026. READING 1: Deuteronomy 30:15-20 RESP: Psalm 1:1-4,6 GOSPEL: Luke 9:22-25 Thursday after Ash Wednesday Today, on this Thursday after Ash Wednesday, the Church continues to guide us into the sacred spirit of Lent. Having just begun this holy season, the Liturgy of the Word places before us the urgency of decision and the seriousness of discipleship. Lent is not simply a time of routine sacrifice, but a season of choosing anew the path that leads to life. The Word of God today reminds us that every believer stands daily at a crossroads. God offers us life and blessing, but He also respects our freedom to choose. Lent, therefore, becomes a privileged time to examine our hearts, to turn away from sin, and to renew our commitment to walk faithfully with the Lord. At the same time, the Gospel reveals the heart of Christian discipleship: following Christ means embracing the way of the Cross. Jesus teaches that true life is not found in selfish gain or worldly security, but in self-denial, sacrifice, and the courage to lose ourselves for His sake. This is the paradox of the Gospel—only by giving our lives to Christ do we truly find them. As we continue our Lenten journey, today’s liturgy invites us to choose life, to carry our crosses with faith, and to trust that God’s path, though demanding, always leads to salvation and joy. ************** Reflection: Beloved brothers and sisters, today the Lord places before us a choice: life or death, blessing or curse. Lent is a season to choose again—to return to God with sincere hearts and walk in His ways. Jesus reminds us that true discipleship means taking up our cross daily. The world promises happiness in comfort and gain, but Christ teaches that real life is found in surrender, sacrifice, and love. May this Lent help us choose Christ above all, and follow Him faithfully to Easter joy. Amen. Copyright © 2025 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved.
