Get at least one brand new video every week, including recipes, kitchen hacks and handy cooking tips to help you feed your family and friends: / coles Basic Pizza Dough Recipe by the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation Makes 2 pizza bases Prep 20 mins (+ 1½ hours resting time) 1 cup (250ml) lukewarm water 1 tbs dry yeast 1 tsp caster sugar 1 tbs extra virgin olive oil 2 2/3 cups (400g) plain flour 1 tsp salt 2 tsp olive oil 2 tbs semolina Place the water, yeast and sugar in a small bowl. Whisk to combine. Set aside in a warm place for 5-10 mins or until the mixture looks frothy. Add the extra virgin olive oil to the yeast mixture and stir to combine. Place the flour and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a dough hook. Add the yeast mixture and beat for 8 mins or until the dough comes together and looks smooth. Lightly brush the inside of a large bowl with olive oil. Turn the dough out into the prepared bowl. Cover with a clean, dry tea towel and place in a warm, draught-free place for 1 hour or until the dough doubles in size. Transfer the dough to a clean workbench and knead for 1-2 mins. Shape into a round ball and return to the bowl. Cover with the tea towel and set aside for 20 mins to rest. Transfer the dough to a clean workbench. Divide the dough into 2 even portions. Sprinkle with the semolina and roll out into thin discs. Want more dinner recipes?
