The eastbound lanes of the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway are expected to remain closed between Upper Wentworth and Upper James streets later into Monday evening following a serious overnight collision that sent two people to hospital. Hamilton police arrived around 1:30 a.m. to find one vehicle engulfed in flames and a second vehicle flipped onto its roof. Investigators say a 16-year-old boy driving a 2023 Mercedes YCG was speeding when it collided with a 2022 Lexus IS, which rolled several times before coming to rest. The Mercedes flipped onto its roof nearly 150 metres from the Lexus. Officers say the 24-year-old man driving the Lexus was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old G2 driver of the Mercedes and his passenger sustained minor injuries. The Linc was initially closed in both directions between Upper Wentworth and Upper James streets. Police reopened the westbound lanes shortly before noon. Police’s collision reconstruction unit is now investigating. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact investigators at 905-546-4753.
