📍 Methuselah Trail Difficulty - Easy/Moderate Miles - 4.2 Elevation Gain - 750 ft Rating - 6/10 This was the last trail we did in California. The trees are awesome, but if we're being honest, the trail isn't worth it unless these trees are just a bucktlist thing for you. The trail itself is sloped with scree and loose dirt almost the entire time down the mountain and isn't very wide. You will also not find Methuselah on this trail, and the trees aren't as plentiful as you might expect. The trees you do get to see and photograph are few and far between in the 4+ miles. This area is also VERY far away from the rest of anything on HWY 395. You drive up 6,000+ ft on a very windy 9% plus grade road that is sometimes only a single lane. I know it sounds like I'm complaining, but I guess I was just expecting more. Hey, not everything is a home run, right?
