The EMU train was officially delivered to the Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd., a joint venture based in the Lao capital Vientiane in charge of the railway's construction and operation. The EMU, named Lane Xang, is also known as Lancang, the name of the upper reaches of the Mekong River in China, which symbolizes the China-Laos relationship as good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners. The Lane Xang EMU is painted in the Lao flag colors of red, blue, and white. The interior design integrates elements of traditional Chinese and Lao cultures, embodying the Lao people's vision of a better life and the friendship between the two peoples. The EMU was manufactured by the CRRC Group. With a maximum operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour, the 720-seat Lane Xang train has nine carriages including a power carriage, a dining carriage, a first-class and six second-class carriages. The screens, broadcasts and service signs are all in the three languages of Chinese, Lao, and English. The China-Laos railway connects Kunming City of southwest China's Yunnan Province and Vientiane. It is scheduled to be operational in December 2021. After its operation, the journey time from Vientiane to Kunming can be just overnight. 中老鐵路的流線型“中國標準”子彈頭列車或電動動車組（EMU）列車週六抵達新建的中老鐵路萬象站。 動車組列車正式交付給位於老撾首都萬象，負責鐵路的建設和運營的合資企業老中鐵路有限公司。 動車組名為瀾滄，是湄公河上游的中國名稱，象徵著中老好鄰居、好朋友、好同志、好夥伴的關係。 瀾滄 動車組塗有老撾國旗的紅、藍、白三色。室內設計融合了中老傳統文化元素，體現了老撾人民對美好生活的憧憬和兩國人民的友誼。 動車組由中國中車集團製造。 720座的 瀾滄 列車最高運行速度為每小時160公里，共有動力車廂、餐車、一等車廂和六節二等車廂9節車廂。 屏幕、廣播和服務標誌均採用漢語、老撾語和英語三種語言。 中老鐵路連接中國西南雲南省昆明市和萬象。計劃於2021年12月投入運營，投入運營後，萬象至昆明的車程只需一夜。
