I traveled to Madagascar to take on one of the most dangerous and remote expeditions of my life — a 70 km trek deep into the Makay Massif, one of the last unexplored frontiers on Earth. For five grueling days, we crossed savannas patrolled by armed bandits, waded through rivers waist-deep, squeezed through slot canyons, and camped in complete isolation. We carried live chickens for food, filtered river water through charcoal, and survived with only what we could carry on our backs. The Makay region of Madagascar is ruled by a violent zebu-stealing mafia and surrounded by corruption, disease, and lawlessness. Yet it’s also a place of staggering beauty — towering limestone cliffs, cave systems untouched for centuries, and wildlife found nowhere else on Earth: rare lemurs, snakes, and ecosystems that feel prehistoric. Along the way, we stayed with villagers living without electricity or running water, experiencing life at its rawest and most resilient. And when our car broke down at night on roads patrolled by bandits, our survival came down to a single, terrifying twist of fate. This wasn’t a safari. This wasn’t tourism. This was Madagascar in its truest form — raw, wild, and unforgiving. 🌍 Join me as I document one of the most epic adventures of my life, into a land few have ever dared to explore.
