Episode 445 Elsie (Pat Phoenix) keeps her new job at Gamma Garments secret from everyone except Dennis (Philip Lowrie). Lucille (Jennifer Moss) starts to demand only free-range eggs for breakfast. Hilda (Jean Alexander) continues to worry about who Stan (Bernard Youens) meets on his milk round. Val (Anne Reid) fails to sell her salon equipment. Hilda's suspicions continue to grow about Stan. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) is busy with managing the shop and with her driving lessons. Elsie arrives lates to Gamma Garments and shocks Emily by getting behind the counter. Stan is late coming home and Hilda begins to worry. Emily reprimands Elsie but she continues to behave unprofessionally with Len (Peter Adamson) and Dennis. Hilda discovers Stan left work early and left his milk float at the depot. Roger Wain (Frazer Hines) enlists Lucille's help caring for elderly people. Stan shows up at the Rovers sporting a black eye.
