From the moment we enter this world, a pace is created for us. That pace influences how quickly we learn, how hard we work, and how we judge our own progress as human beings. The problem is, most of the time, it isn’t our pace. In this video, I explore how nearly every stage of life conditions us to move according to someone else’s timeline — our parents, school systems, deadlines, schedules, and eventually the workplace. Over time, we internalize this external pacing and begin measuring ourselves against it, often leading to burnout, frustration, and a constant feeling of falling behind. I talk about how this conditioning starts early and follows us into adulthood, shaping how we approach work, goals, and even personal growth. But the deeper question is: how do we step out of that and develop a pace that actually works for us? I break this down into two simple ideas. First, choosing something to work toward. And second, setting an extremely reasonable and sustainable pace — one that you can maintain even on your worst days. I share a personal example of how something as small as committing to just two pages of reading a night eventually transformed into a lifelong habit, simply because the pace was realistic. I also touch on the importance of detaching from results. When we attach expectations to outcomes, progress becomes emotional. And when progress becomes emotional, consistency disappears. By letting go of results and honoring a steady, personal rhythm, real change happens naturally. Finding your own pace isn’t about doing less — it’s about moving in a way that you can sustain for the long term.
